Our Commitment to Your Privacy

At Qurious, we understand that privacy isn't just a feature it's a fundamental right. For members of the LGBTQ+ community, privacy can be a matter of safety. We've built Qurious with this understanding at its core.

Right Now, During the Waitlist

The app hasn't launched yet. Today, the only thing Qurious operates is this website and its waitlist, and this is precisely what we collect when you join:

• Your email address — to confirm your signup and send launch updates
• Your chosen city — to prioritize where we launch first
• Optional interests — the chips you select on the form, if any
• Campaign (UTM) parameters — if you arrived via a shared or promoted link
• Your IP address — used transiently for rate limiting to protect the waitlist from abuse

This data lives in our database (Supabase) and cache (Upstash Redis). It is kept until launch, and no longer than needed: unsubscribing deletes your record immediately and permanently, and signups that are never confirmed by email are purged automatically after 30 days. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone.

If we enable website analytics, we use cookieless, privacy-respecting analytics that do not identify you. We do not use advertising pixels or ad-platform tags of any kind.

Your Rights (DPDP Act)

In line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erase your data (unsubscribe deletes your waitlist record immediately)
• Raise a grievance and receive a timely response

For any of these, write to privacy@quriousworld.com. We aim to respond within 72 hours. A named grievance officer will be designated before the app launches.

When the App Launches: Information We Will Collect

The sections below describe the Qurious app, which is still in development. They apply once the app is live and you create an account.

Information you provide:

• Email address (for account creation and communication)
• Profile information (name, photos, bio, interests)
• Location data (only when you explicitly enable it)
• Messages and content you share
• Payment information (processed securely by our payment provider)

Information collected automatically:

• Device information (type, operating system)
• Usage data (features used, time spent)
• Log data (IP address, browser type, access times)

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve our services
• To facilitate connections with other users
• To send important updates and communications
• To ensure safety and security of our platform
• To comply with legal requirements

What We Never Do

• Sell your data — We never sell personal information to advertisers or third parties
• Index your profile on search engines — Your profile will never appear in Google or any search engine
• Connect to your social accounts— We don't require or offer social login
• Share your identity — We will never reveal your identity to anyone without your explicit consent

Your Privacy Controls (in the app)

You will have full control over your visibility on Qurious:

• Hide your distance from other users
• Use incognito mode to browse privately
• Hide from the discovery grid entirely
• Block users instantly
• Control who can message you

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including:

• Encryption in transit and at rest for messages
• Secure HTTPS connections
• Regular security audits
• Encrypted data storage

Messages are scanned automatically by our safety systems to protect users from abuse. They are never sold or shared.

Data Retention

During the waitlist: your record is kept until launch, deleted immediately if you unsubscribe, and unconfirmed signups are purged after 30 days. Once the app launches: we retain your data only as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete all your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
