About Qurious
Qurious is a social discovery platform built specifically for India's LGBTQ+ community. We're creating a space where you can connect, discover, and belong — whether you're looking for dates, friends, conversations, or just a place where you can be yourself.
Three things. First, we're India-first — built for Indian cities and contexts, not a localized global product. Second, privacy is the default: encrypted messaging, discreet mode, and granular visibility controls. Third, we're building for community, not just dating — live streams, group conversations, and local events.
No! Qurious is for anyone and everyone. We're building features and spaces for everyone — no labels attached. You figure things out at your own pace. Our community is diverse, and our platform reflects that.
Yes, absolutely. The Supreme Court of India struck down Section 377 in September 2018, decriminalizing consensual same-sex relationships. Using Qurious is completely legal, and we're committed to operating transparently within Indian law.
Yes — there's an interactive preview of the interface (discovery, profiles, chat, and the privacy controls) on our Product page, with fictional demo profiles you can tap through in your browser. The full app launches Q4 2026; the waitlist gets in first.
Privacy & Safety
We give you full control over your visibility. Your profile will never appear in search engines. You can hide your distance, go incognito, or hide from the grid entirely. We don't require social login, so there's no connection to your other accounts. Your privacy is in your hands.
Yes. We use encryption in transit and at rest, industry-standard security practices for all data, and we never sell your information to advertisers or third parties. You can delete your account at any time, and all your data will be permanently removed.
We have zero tolerance for harassment. You can block and report any user instantly. Our team reviews every report, and we take action quickly — including permanent bans for serious violations. Reports are confidential; we never tell the reported user who filed the report.
Yes. Our block feature prevents specific users from seeing your profile or contacting you. We're also building additional privacy features like incognito mode (browse without others knowing you viewed them) and the ability to hide from users in certain locations.
We design for that. There is no social login, so nothing about Qurious ever surfaces on your other accounts, and your profile is never indexed by search engines. Every email we send is deliberately plain — no rainbow branding, no wording that gives anything away on a lock-screen preview. Discreet in-app presentation is part of the privacy work we are building now; the roadmap tracks it honestly.
Yes, and there is no retention trick. Unsubscribing from the waitlist deletes your record immediately and permanently, and signups that are never confirmed are purged automatically after 30 days. When the app launches, deleting your account removes your data with it. Under the DPDP Act you can also ask us for a copy of what we hold, or to correct it.
Yes. Qurious is strictly for adults aged 18 and over, with no exceptions. Accounts found to belong to minors are removed.
Features
Our MVP includes: proximity-based discovery (find people nearby), profiles with photos and interests, direct messaging, privacy controls (distance hiding, incognito mode, grid visibility), and block/report functionality. Future phases will add live streaming, group conversations, events, and premium features like travel mode and unlimited filters.
Yes! Core features including discovery and messaging will always be free. We'll offer premium features for those who want more — like unlimited filters, travel mode, and advanced visibility options.
Quoins are Qurious's in-app currency. You can use them for premium features, virtual gifts during live streams, and boosting your profile visibility. Founding members start with 500 Quoins for free!
Waitlist & Launch
We're targeting Q4 2026 for our beta launch, starting with Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bangalore, and Kolkata. Founding members get priority access when we launch in their city. Sign up for the waitlist to be first in line!
We're starting with Mumbai, Delhi NCR (including Gurugram and Noida), Bangalore, and Kolkata — India's four largest metro regions and most active LGBTQ+ communities. From there, we'll expand to Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and more based on waitlist demand. Don't see your city? Join the waitlist anyway — it directly shapes where we go next.
Founding members (the first 25,000 people on the waitlist) get: a permanent Founding Member badge on their profile, 500 Quoins starter balance, priority access when we launch in their city, and the opportunity to shape the product through exclusive surveys and early feature access.
When you join the waitlist, you get a unique referral link. Share it with friends — when they sign up using your link, you move up in the queue and unlock additional perks. It's our way of thanking you for spreading the word.
We'll send a confirmation link to your email — click it to secure your spot. Once confirmed, you'll see your position and get your referral link. We'll send occasional updates about our progress (no spam, we promise), and when we're ready to launch in your city, you'll be among the first to know.
